MansionBet Deadline Day For Fund Request
On the 31st of March, 2022, the Mansion Group decided to shut its sportsbook offering, MansionBet, in a bid to focus on the company’s casino ventures. This incorporated the casino-only sites that were part of the group, MansionCasino, Casino.com and SlotsHeaven.
It was also viewed that the operator was looking to expand in other markets, such as Canada and Spain. It initially vowed to keep its casino operations open to UK players.
However, in January of this year, the platform decided to shelve all of its iGaming operations in the UK.
Apparently, the decision was made due to a lack of success and traction in the UK market, along with a concentration on affiliate activity. It is still unsure if it will continue its operations in other jurisdictions.
Spontaneous
Speaking about the decision back in January, the CEO of Mansion, Christian Block, stated,
“After careful deliberation, we have decided to cease trading our MansionBet brand. The commercial decision was a difficult one, but it does provide an opportunity to focus on our casino brands, where we have a long history of excelling.”
The spontaneous departure of the brand does not bode much confidence that it will continue to serve other markets for much longer, considering the UK market is the largest online gambling market in the world.
Deadline Day
What’s relevant for former MansionBet users is that the deadline for withdrawing any funds from all accounts is the 28th of April.
For casino players, the Mansion Group sites notified users to withdraw funds from their accounts before the 12th of April. However, due to UK gambling regulations, account holders can technically request withdrawals after that date, since the platform is still operational in some capacity.
Household Name
Mansion became a household name in the UK in the mid-00s, as it announced a record-breaking shirt sponsorship with Tottenham Hotspur in 2006. More recently, it became a primary partner of Bournemouth in 2017 and Bristol City in 2020.
Proactive Response?
The exodus of the brand from the UK could be a proactive response to the eagerly anticipated gambling reforms, which are set to be announced later this year.
